Raptors’ ‘Drake Night’ features rapper introducing lineups, getting Adam Silver’s name wrong

Wednesday brought “Drake Night” to Toronto’s Air Canada Centre, and the rapper/singer/ESPYs host said that he had specifically chosen to be honored on a night when the Raptors were hosting the Nets, who won a seven-game playoff series between the teams last spring. Despite all of that, Drake said, “It’s not about me,” according to the New York Daily News.
“Drake Night” may or may not have been about Drake, but he did get to introduce the Raptors’ starters before the game, doing so in wacky fashion:
The evening didn’t feature a Raptors official dropping an F-bomb on Brooklyn, as general manager Masai Ujiri did during the playoff series, but it did feature an apparent slip of the tongue by Drake:
Did you catch that? In an interview with ESPN, Drake referred to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver as “Sterling.” If Silver is really Drizzy’s “guy,” you’d think he’d get the Commish’s name right. Of course, given the “sterling silver” connection, Drake will probably play if off as an intentional nicknaming.
The former “Degrassi: The Next Generation” actor also referenced that show, in discussing the first-place Raptors’ chemistry, according to theHamilton Spectator:
“Being part of an ensemble cast, it involves the meshing of all personalities. I can testify because I was on ‘Degrassi’ where there were 12 kids trying to co-exist, and everybody wanted to be a star,” Drake said. “Once you have a common goal in mind as opposed to a personal goal, that’s when things really start to click.”
Things certainly clicked for Toronto Wednesday night, as the team beat its nemesis, 105-89.

This former editor and part-time writer at The Post is now happy to prove that if you combine ‘blowhard’ and ‘blaggard,’ you get ‘blogger.’ He previously had used ‘Desmond Bieler’ as his byline, but feels that shortening the first name to ‘Des’ nicely conveys his ever-decreasing gravitas. He also covers Fantasy Football.

Was I born a masochist or did society make me this way? I demand unconditional love and complete freedom. That is why I am terrible.
